Our story: From kitchen table to successful building company

Hollywell Building Services was founded in 1993 by Bob Stephen, as an M&E company providing mechanical and electrical services to local Hertfordshire clients.

Working from the kitchen table at his home in St Albans, Bob’s first client was the University of Hertfordshire, where the company undertook various small works. Within 3 years, the business was turning over £1m, and moved to its current site at New Barnes Mill as a tenant in 1996, taking on two staff.

Today, Hollywell now employs over 75 staff. We operate throughout Southern England, offering 24/7 emergency cover to all of our clients.
