We hosted our inaugural Hollywell Building Services Golf Day at Verulam Golf Club in St Albans on September 25th, in memory of our dearly departed colleague, Phil Aylott. We decided early on to make this a charitable event to raise much-needed funds for two charities: Mates in Mind and Macmillan Cancer Support.
We received an overwhelming response from our suppliers, who sponsored 27 holes in total. Along with the support from Hollywell staff members, as well as the 24 Golfers we had on the day, all making generous donations to enter the golf competitions, the charity raffle and charity auction lots, we raised a staggering £8,360 for charity.
Hollywell’s support of this charitable event has since gone even further, with our Managing Director kindly raising the total to £10,000!
The weather gods were with us for the golf, and an amazing day was had by all playing for the Phil Aylott Memorial trophy. Our Champion golfer of the year, Martin Barber, was presented with the trophy by Phil’s wife, Karen, which made the day even more special. We were also joined by Helen and Laura, representatives of the two charities we were supporting, who came to show their appreciation for our efforts, and both made moving speeches which resonated with all of us. “A truly unforgettable day ”
