The Approach

Hollywell has to be sympathetic to the various demands that visitors to the parks have as well as ensuring that often complex works are carried out on time and to budget. Many of the buildings worked upon have historic importance and an understanding of the parks’ heritage is very important.

The Challenges

The Park buildings create a large number of different challenges. Hollywell encountered an unexploded World War II bomb when working on a project at White Ash Lodge in Richmond Park. When renovating Victoria Gate Lodge in Hyde Park, the presence of a Victorian pet cemetery meant that care was taken to preserve the head stones, many of which were in fact miniature versions of the headstones of their Victorian owners, most of which worked for the Royal Parks in the 19th Century.

The Delivery

The challenges presented by these old buildings, often mean that even the most meticulous planning cannot foresee some of the complications that arise once works begin. Key to delivering the works is good communication between the Hollywell team and the client. Where issues arise Hollywell aim to offer cost effective and sympathetic solutions allowing for decisions to be made quickly and works schedules to be largely unaffected. We believe that our good communications and our knowledge of these old buildings helps nurture a successful working relationship.
